Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère : Listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages of France,” it has perfectly preserved the charm and authenticity of the medieval towns of the Périgord Noir. Its unique character comes from its traditional “coyaux” roofs, warm golden stone walls, narrow winding alleys (locally known as couredous), and the peaceful Vézère river.

This heritage is further enhanced by three exceptional historic residences:

Château de Chabans (Private Estate): Set slightly back, this 16th-century castle illustrates the transition to the Renaissance style. Its monumental limestone slab roofs (lauzes) and historic facades complete this unique architectural trinity.

Manoir de la Salle: Located at the entrance of the village, this 14th-century noble manor impresses with its massive square keep and adjacent priory, standing as witnesses to the seigniorial power of the past.

Château de Clérans: A true 15th-century sentinel overlooking the Vézère. Its round towers and elegant silhouette reflect in the water, offering one of the most iconic views of the village.

La Roque Saint-Christophe

Less than 5 minutes away, this limestone giant is a major archaeological site. This one-kilometer-long cliff face houses a troglodytic city spread over five levels, where humans have shaped their dwellings from Prehistory through to the Renaissance. The remains of medieval structures, reconstructed lifting systems, and high-altitude terraces bear witness to thousands of years of ingenuity in adapting to the rock.

Le Château de Losse

A Renaissance masterpiece built in 1576, this castle is a model of elegance and symmetry. Its ramparts and moats, still fed by the Vézère river, protect a noble residence featuring exquisitely carved decorations. Awarded the “Jardin Remarquable” (Remarkable Garden) label, its terraces offer a poetic stroll between prestigious architecture and the preserved nature of the valley.

Dhagpo Kagyu Ling

Located on the Côte de Jor, this Buddhist study and meditation center is the European seat of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Founded in 1975 under the direction of the 16th Karmapa, it represents a unique part of the contemporary spiritual heritage in the Périgord Noir. As a center for the transmission of ancestral Central Asian knowledge, it welcomes the public year-round through workshops, events, and guided tours. Visitors are also welcome to freely explore the meditation garden, the Stupas, the temple, and the library. A truly surprising and enriching stopover!
